John Krasinski's 2021 follow-up picks up in the aftermath of the first film, sending the surviving Abbott family beyond the safety of their home and into a hostile wider world. Venturing into the unknown, they learn that the sound-hunting creatures are far from the only danger waiting past the sand path, as human survivors prove their own kind of threat. Krasinski sustains the series' hallmark of near-silence and dread, building suspense from held breath and sudden noise rather than gore. It's a tense, tightly paced watch best suited to viewers who value atmosphere and craft over jump-scare excess, and who have seen the original first.
