Our take on Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls
Steve Oedekerk directs this 1995 comedy adventure that summons pet detective Ace Ventura from a Tibetan ashram to the jungles of Africa. His mission: find Shikaka, the sacred animal of the peaceful Wachati tribe, before the princess's wedding to a Wachootoo prince. Fail, and a vicious tribal war will follow. The plot is really a frame for broad slapstick, rubber-faced mugging and gleefully absurd set pieces built around its manic hero. It suits viewers in the mood for silly, energetic, unashamedly juvenile comedy and fans of the first film's brand of humor. Anyone allergic to over-the-top mugging and crude gags will want to steer well clear.
