Our take on American Reunion

This 2012 comedy brings the gang back to East Great Falls, more than a decade on, for their high school reunion. Over one long-overdue weekend the old friends discover what has changed, who hasn't, and that time and distance haven't loosened the bonds between them. It leans on nostalgia and the familiar rhythms of raunchy set pieces, embarrassment and hard-won sentiment that defined the series, now filtered through the awkwardness of grown-up lives. This is aimed squarely at people who grew up with these characters and want a reunion of their own; newcomers will miss much of the emotional payoff. If the earlier films are comfort viewing for you, this delivers more of the same.
