Sean Baker's 2024 film is a modern Cinderella story with sharp edges: a young sex worker from Brooklyn impulsively marries the son of a Russian oligarch, only to watch her fairytale collide with his family. When the news reaches Russia, his parents move to annul the marriage, and what began as a whirlwind romance turns into a scramble for control. Baker balances comedy, drama and romance while keeping his usual eye on class, money and people living on the margins.
