Our take on Bad Teacher

Jake Kasdan's 2011 comedy centers on a lazy, foul-tempered middle school teacher who openly loathes her job and her students. When her wealthy fiancé dumps her, she's forced back into the classroom, chasing enough money to fund a cosmetic surgery rather than any noble calling. The joke is her utter shamelessness, and the film mines crude, R-rated laughs from a protagonist with no interest in being redeemed. It's a broad, cynical comedy that leans on a gleefully awful lead. Best for viewers who like their humor mean-spirited and unapologetic, who enjoy anti-heroine antics, and who aren't looking for warmth or a tidy moral lesson.
