About Black Panther
King T'Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country's new leader. However, T'Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne by factions within his own country as well as without. Using powers reserved to Wakandan kings, T'Challa assumes the Black Panther mantle to join with ex-girlfriend Nakia, the queen-mother, his princess-kid sister, members of the Dora Milaje (the Wakandan 'special forces') and an American secret agent, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

Our take on Black Panther
Ryan Coogler's 2018 adventure brings King T'Challa home to Wakanda, a reclusive, technologically advanced African nation hidden from the world. As he steps into leadership, his claim to the throne is challenged from within and without, forcing him to take up the Black Panther mantle and its royal powers. Alongside allies including Nakia, the queen-mother, his sharp younger sister, the Dora Milaje warriors and an American agent, he fights to keep Wakanda from tipping the world toward war. It's a superhero film with real thematic weight, threading action and spectacle through questions of heritage, isolation and responsibility. Viewers wanting blockbuster scale with a strong cultural voice will find it satisfying.
