Our take on Casino Royale
Martin Campbell reboots the Bond franchise by rewinding to the agent's first mission as a newly minted 00, sending him after Le Chiffre, a banker to terrorists who plans to secure his hold on the market at a high-stakes poker table in Montenegro. With Vesper Lynd and Felix Leiter alongside, Bond must beat him at his own game. The result is a leaner, harder-edged action thriller that trades gadgetry for physicality and lets the spy bleed and doubt. Ideal for viewers who want espionage with real stakes and a genuine emotional undertow, or anyone curious how the series reinvented itself. A strong entry point that assumes no prior Bond knowledge.
