Our take on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Phil Lord's 2009 animated comedy follows would-be inventor Flint Lockwood, whose latest gadget makes clouds rain food, briefly turning his struggling town of Chewandswallow into a paradise for its down-and-out citizens. But when the portions swell to gargantuan size, Flint has to scramble to regain control of the machine before the wild weather destroys everything. It's a fast, visually inventive family film with a manic sense of humor and a sweet undercurrent about accepting yourself and your family. Kids will love the spectacle of falling burgers and giant meatballs, and the wit is quick enough to keep adults grinning. A bright, warm-hearted choice for all ages.
