Our take on Daredevil
Mark Steven Johnson's 2003 comic-book adaptation follows a man blinded in a childhood accident whose remaining senses sharpen to superhuman levels, which he turns toward fighting crime after dark. Blending action with a streak of gothic fantasy, it leans on brooding atmosphere and stylized set-pieces more than gritty realism, and its early-2000s superhero sensibility is worn openly. It suits viewers curious about the pre-Marvel-Studios wave of costumed heroes, or anyone drawn to a protagonist whose disability becomes his defining strength. Expect a moody, romantic take on vigilante justice rather than a grounded thriller, and a hero shaped as much by grief as by his gifts.
