Our take on Dark Phoenix

Simon Kinberg's 2019 entry in the X-Men saga pits the mutant team against one of their own when Jean Grey begins to lose control. During a rescue mission in outer space she is nearly killed by a mysterious cosmic force that not only amplifies her powers immensely but leaves her dangerously unstable. As Jean's abilities threaten everyone around her, the X-Men must decide whether to save her or stop her, while aliens seek to exploit her new strength to seize the galaxy. This action, adventure and science-fiction chapter centres on internal conflict and cosmic scale, suiting viewers invested in the team's relationships who want a darker, character-driven turn.
