Our take on Deadpool

Tim Miller's 2016 origin story traces Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces operative turned mercenary, who undergoes a rogue experiment that leaves him disfigured but blessed with accelerated healing. Taking the name Deadpool, he sets out to hunt the man who wrecked his life. As action-adventure comedy, it's built around a self-aware, foul-mouthed antihero who breaks the fourth wall and treats the superhero formula as a target for mockery. The appeal is attitude, crude jokes and stylized violence rather than earnest heroics, so it lands best with viewers who want their comic-book films irreverent and adult. Not one for younger audiences or anyone hoping for straight-faced sincerity.
