Our take on Dogma

Kevin Smith's 1999 fantasy-comedy sends an abortion-clinic worker with a special heritage on an unlikely mission: stopping two renegade angels who have found a loophole to reenter Heaven, a move that would inadvertently negate all of existence. True to Smith, the theology arrives wrapped in profane banter, road-trip absurdity and pointed jabs at organized religion, so its irreverence is the point rather than an accident. It suits viewers who enjoy talky, ideas-driven comedy unafraid to argue about faith, and who don't mind adventure that stops to debate its own premise. Come for the gleeful provocation and the freewheeling mix of the sacred and the crude.
