About Dredd

In the future, America is a dystopian wasteland. The latest scourge is Ma-Ma, a prostitute-turned-drug pusher with a dangerous new drug and aims to take over the city. The only possibility of stopping her is an elite group of urban police called Judges, who combine the duties of judge, jury and executioner to deliver a brutal brand of swift justice. But even the top-ranking Judge, Dredd, discovers that taking down Ma-Ma isn’t as easy as it seems in this explosive adaptation of the hugely popular comic series.

Our take on Dredd

Pete Travis's 2012 adaptation of the popular comic drops us into a dystopian future America, a wasteland where the newest menace is Ma-Ma, a former prostitute turned drug pusher pushing a dangerous new narcotic as she moves to seize the city. The only ones who can stop her are the Judges, elite urban police who serve as judge, jury and executioner, dealing swift, brutal justice. Even top-ranking Judge Dredd finds bringing her down harder than expected. Lean, violent and tightly contained, this science-fiction action film suits viewers who like their sci-fi grim, stylized and unrelenting. If you want hard-edged genre thrills over world-building sprawl, Dredd stays focused.
