Director David Leitch peels two loud personalities off the Fast & Furious franchise and lets them collide for a full film. Lawman Hobbs and outcast Shaw have never done anything but trade insults and punches, but a cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist named Brixton, whose ruthless plans threaten humanity itself, forces the mismatched pair into an uneasy alliance. This 2019 spin-off leans hard into comedy and stunt spectacle, powered almost entirely by the antagonism between its stars. Expect big set pieces, bigger banter, and little interest in slowing down. It suits viewers who want the series at its most cartoonish and self-aware, plot very much secondary to attitude.
