James Wan directs this 2015 entry in the action-crime saga, in which Deckard Shaw hunts Dominic Toretto and his extended family in revenge for his comatose brother. It is built for spectacle: hand-to-hand duels, elaborate vehicle set pieces and a globe-trotting sense of scale, all anchored by the series' insistence that loyalty and family outweigh everything. Newcomers may miss the emotional shorthand between characters, but as a pure adrenaline delivery system it knows exactly what it is. If you want big, physical, unashamedly excessive action and don't need much plot to enjoy it, this is squarely aimed at you.
