Former London constable Nicholas Angel finds it difficult to adapt to his new assignment in the sleepy British village of Sandford. Not only does he miss the excitement of the big city, but he also has a well-meaning oaf for a partner. However, when a series of grisly accidents rocks Sandford, Angel smells something rotten in the idyllic village.

Edgar Wright's 2007 action-comedy follows Nicholas Angel, a supremely competent London constable reassigned to the sleepy village of Sandford, where he misses the big city and gets saddled with a well-meaning oaf of a partner. When a string of grisly "accidents" starts piling up, Angel senses something rotten beneath the idyllic surface. Wright fuses a loving parody of Hollywood cop thrillers with razor-sharp editing, deadpan British wit and a genre-bending final act. It suits viewers who enjoy clever comedy that eventually erupts into full-blown action, and who appreciate visual gags built into the filmmaking itself.
