Our take on Hotel Transylvania

Genndy Tartakovsky's 2012 animated comedy unfolds inside Dracula's lavish resort, a place where monsters and their families can relax with no humans allowed. Over one special weekend, Dracula gathers his legendary friends to celebrate his daughter Mavis's 118th birthday, and everything runs smoothly until an ordinary human wanders in and upends the count's carefully guarded world. Tartakovsky brings his elastic, rubber-limbed cartoon energy to a warm story about an overprotective father learning to let go. The rapid sight gags and affectionate monster-mash humour play best for younger viewers and families. If you want breezy, colourful animation built around parent-child tenderness rather than edge, it delivers exactly that.
