Our take on Insomnia

Christopher Nolan's 2002 crime drama sends two Los Angeles homicide detectives to a northern town where the sun never sets, tasked with untangling the methodical murder of a local teenager. That endless daylight becomes the film's engine: sleeplessness erodes judgment, and the investigation curdles into something murkier as guilt and exhaustion blur. Nolan trades spectacle for a taut psychological grip, letting the case pressure his lead detective from within. It rewards viewers drawn to morally compromised procedurals where the hunter is as unstable as the hunted, and where atmosphere—cold light, fog, fatigue—does much of the work. Slow-burning, uneasy and quietly gripping throughout.
