This 2015 sequel, directed by Robert Schwentke, continues the young-adult dystopia as Beatrice Prior wrestles with guilt and grief while pressing on against a powerful alliance bent on tearing her divided society apart. Blending action, science fiction and thriller, it keeps the faction-ruled world and its escalating conflict front and center, mixing chases and set pieces with Tris's inner reckoning. As a middle chapter, it assumes you've met these characters and leans into rising stakes rather than fresh introductions.
