About Jack Reacher

One morning in an ordinary town, five people are shot dead in a seemingly random attack. All evidence points to a single suspect: an ex-military sniper who is quickly brought into custody. Christopher McQuarrie's 2012 thriller opens with five people shot dead in a seemingly random attack, all evidence pointing to a single suspect: an ex-military sniper quickly taken into custody. The captured man leaves only a written note — a demand to bring in Jack Reacher, an enigmatic ex-Army investigator. Convinced the police have the right man, Reacher nonetheless agrees to help the defense, and the deeper he digs, the murkier the case becomes, launching a dogged pursuit of the truth against a dangerous adversary. It's a lean action-crime drama built on a laconic, methodical hero. Fans of grounded investigative thrillers and terse tough guys will enjoy it; those wanting nonstop spectacle less so.
