Colin Trevorrow revives the dinosaur franchise more than two decades on, imagining the fully operational theme park that John Hammond once dreamed of, now open on Isla Nublar and drawing crowds who have grown blasé about living giants. It's an adventure-science-fiction blockbuster that trades on nostalgia while chasing bigger spectacle and, inevitably, new dangers when the attraction slips beyond control. Best suited to viewers who want large-scale creature thrills and a modern gloss on a familiar premise, rather than the slow-build wonder of the original. Casual audiences can follow it without seeing the earlier films, though longtime fans will catch the echoes. A crowd-pleasing return built for scale.
