Our take on Minions

Kyle Balda's 2015 animated comedy-adventure spins off the little yellow helpers into their own origin story, following Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob as they leave their tribe to seek a new master to serve. Their search leads them to Scarlet Overkill, a self-styled super-villain who, together with her inventor husband Herb, cooks up a scheme to take over the world. It's brightly colored, gag-driven family fun built almost entirely on physical comedy and the Minions' gibberish charm, aimed squarely at young children and undemanding by design. Parents should expect wall-to-wall slapstick rather than much story. Minions delivers cheerful, easygoing entertainment for kids who already adore these characters.
