Our take on Non-Stop
Jaume Collet-Serra's 2014 thriller unfolds almost entirely aboard a transatlantic flight, where federal air marshal Bill Marks starts receiving anonymous text messages from someone claiming to be onboard and threatening to kill a passenger every twenty minutes unless a huge sum is transferred. Racing against the clock in a sealed cabin, he must unmask the killer while suspicion falls on him. It's a brisk, contained mystery that leans on claustrophobic tension, red herrings and a ticking-clock structure rather than realism. It suits viewers who enjoy pulpy, high-concept suspense and don't overthink the mechanics. Those craving plausibility may balk, but as an efficient midair puzzle it keeps you guessing.
