Joel Schumacher builds an entire thriller around a single confined space: a slick New York publicist answers a ringing phone booth and is told that if he hangs up, he dies, with a laser sight proving the caller means it. From that premise the film becomes a taut, real-time duel of nerves, trapping its charming, morally shabby lead where his lies and vanity are stripped away one call at a time. It's lean, tense and driven almost entirely by dialogue and pressure. Ideal for viewers who like single-location suspense and a protagonist forced to face himself. A sharp reminder that a phone and a sniper can be enough.
