Shawn Levy's near-future sports drama imagines a world where boxing has been handed over to hulking robots, and human fighters have been pushed aside. Charlie Kenton is one of those has-beens, scraping by on the underground circuit until his machine is destroyed and he's forced to team up with the estranged son he barely knows. Together they rebuild a scrappy, overlooked contender and train it for the ring. It's a father-son story dressed as crowd-pleasing science-fiction action, leaning on underdog beats and the slow thaw between two people learning to trust each other. Good for family viewing when you want spectacle with a sentimental, hopeful core rather than hard edges.
