Our take on Return of the Jedi

Richard Marquand's 1983 chapter closes the original Star Wars trilogy on several fronts at once. Luke Skywalker mounts a mission to free Han Solo from the gangster Jabba the Hutt, the Emperor readies a more powerful Death Star to crush the Rebellion, and the Rebel fleet launches an all-out assault on the battle station. Weaving action, adventure, family and even comedy, it balances a full-scale space battle against Luke's final, deeply personal confrontation with Darth Vader and the Emperor. A rousing, emotionally resolving finale best enjoyed after the earlier films, and ideal for viewers who want spectacle and closure in equal measure.
