Our take on Rocky IV
Sylvester Stallone directs and stars in this 1985 entry, the most stylized and Cold War–charged of the series. As reigning heavyweight champion, Rocky Balboa faces Ivan Drago, a towering, science-built Soviet fighter whose backing turns the bout into a political spectacle. Rocky retreats to a stark Siberian camp to train by raw grit while Drago relies on machines, and the climactic match unfolds in Moscow before a hostile crowd. Propulsive montages and a hard-driving soundtrack carry it more than plot. Best for fans of the franchise and viewers who want 1980s crowd-pleasing spectacle—patriotic, punchy, and unabashedly larger than life. Expect emotion over realism.
