Our take on Sausage Party
Conrad Vernon's 2016 animated comedy takes a deliberately absurd premise and runs with it: supermarket products believe a glorious afterlife awaits them beyond the checkout, until a hot dog named Frank starts questioning that faith. What looks like a bright kids' cartoon is a raunchy, adults-only satire that skewers religion, consumerism and blind belief through talking groceries. The fantasy-adventure framing lets it stage a full existential quest across the store's aisles, all wrapped in crude humor and gleefully anarchic energy. It suits viewers who want animation with a provocative edge and don't mind the vulgarity. Anyone expecting family-friendly whimsy should look elsewhere; this aims squarely at grown-ups.
