Our take on Saw II

Darren Lynn Bousman's 2005 horror sequel brings back the Jigsaw killer, whose elaborate deadly traps once again grip the city. When a body surfaces bearing his unmistakable signature, Detective Eric Matthews is pulled into a tense investigation, only to find that catching Jigsaw comes far too easily, because capture is simply another move in the killer's intricate design. Leaning into grim mechanical set pieces and moral gamesmanship, the film raises the stakes with a trap-laden scenario and a plot built to spring surprises. It's strictly for horror fans who can stomach graphic, punishing imagery and enjoy puzzle-box cruelty. Bleak, claustrophobic and geared toward a twisting final reveal.
