About Snow White and the Huntsman

After the Evil Queen marries the King, she performs a violent coup in which the King is murdered and his daughter, Snow White, is taken captive. Almost a decade later, a grown Snow White is still in the clutches of the Queen. In order to obtain immortality, The Evil Queen needs the heart of Snow White. After Snow escapes the castle, the Queen sends the Huntsman to find her in the Dark Forest.

Rupert Sanders reimagines the classic fairy tale as a darker adventure-fantasy in this 2012 film. After the Evil Queen marries and then murders the King, she seizes power and keeps his daughter, Snow White, captive. Nearly a decade later, the Queen needs the young woman's heart to secure immortality, and when Snow escapes into the Dark Forest, the Huntsman is dispatched to hunt her down. Trading storybook whimsy for grim stakes, war and a battle of wills between two women, it suits viewers who like their folklore weighty and visually stark. Expect drama and spectacle rather than lighthearted charm from this revisionist take.
