Our take on Southpaw
Antoine Fuqua's 2015 drama follows Billy 'The Great' Hope, a reigning junior middleweight champion with a loving family and a lavish life, until tragedy sends him crashing to rock bottom, stripped of his family, home and manager. His path back runs through Tick Willis, a hardened former fighter who trains rough amateurs, as Billy battles to rebuild himself and regain the trust of those he loves. This is a raw, emotional boxing drama built on physical intensity and a redemption arc rather than plot surprises. It suits viewers who want a gut-punch character study with committed performances. Come for the grit, the tenderness beneath it, and the fight for a second chance.
