Our take on Tarzan
Disney's 1999 animated adventure, co-directed by Chris Buck, tells the story of Tarzan, an orphaned boy raised in the jungle by a gorilla named Kala who becomes his beloved mother. Believing the apes are his true family, Tarzan's world shifts when he rescues Jane Porter and discovers he is human, forcing an aching choice between two worlds and two kinds of belonging. Bright, sweeping and emotionally direct, it pairs energetic action with a heartfelt story about identity and family. A natural fit for children and families, it also rewards adults who appreciate handsome animation and a resonant coming-of-age arc about where we truly belong.
