About Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

It's been 10 years since John Connor saved Earth from Judgment Day, and he's now living under the radar, steering clear of using anything Skynet can trace. That is, until he encounters T-X, a robotic assassin ordered to finish what T-1000 started. Good thing Connor's former nemesis, the Terminator, is back to aid the now-adult Connor … just like he promised.

Our take on Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

Jonathan Mostow's 2003 sci-fi action sequel finds an adult John Connor living off the grid a decade after averting Judgment Day, only to be hunted by the T-X, an advanced assassin sent to finish what earlier machines began. His old ally, the reprogrammed Terminator, returns to protect him, honoring a promise. The film leans hard into chases, destruction and the franchise's fatalistic dread about an unstoppable future, trading some of the earlier films' tension for bigger, blunter spectacle. Fans of the series will appreciate the continuity and set pieces; newcomers get a serviceable, propulsive chase movie built on relentless action rather than nuance.
