About The Breakfast Club

Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal. John Hughes's 1985 comedy-drama confines five very different high schoolers to a Saturday detention under a domineering principal, and over one long day they slowly drop their labels. The rebel, the princess, the outcast, the brain and the jock trade stories, and each begins to see the others, and themselves, differently. Hughes stages almost the entire film in a single library, trusting sharp, honest dialogue and vivid teenage archetypes to carry it. The result is a talky, empathetic snapshot of adolescent insecurity that helped define the teen genre. Viewers who value character over plot and want a warm, quotable look at the pressures of growing up will find it endures.
