Our take on The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan's 2012 crime drama closes his Gotham trilogy eight years after Batman took the blame for Harvey Dent's crimes and vanished from public life, hunted by the very police he once aided. When the cunning Selina Kyle and the merciless terrorist leader Bane push the city to the brink, the Dark Knight resurfaces to defend a Gotham that now sees him as an enemy. Nolan works on a huge canvas, mixing large-scale action with weighty themes of sacrifice and reckoning. Fans of the grounded, bruising momentum of Jack Reacher will connect with its muscular tension. It suits viewers who want blockbuster spectacle with real dramatic stakes.
