Our take on The Interview
Evan Goldberg's action comedy follows Dave Skylark and his producer Aaron Rapaport, hosts of the trashy celebrity show "Skylark Tonight." When they improbably land an interview with a self-professed fan, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the CIA recruits them to turn their trip to Pyongyang into an assassination mission. The setup mixes broad, crude gags with geopolitical satire, sending two clueless entertainers into a situation far beyond their depth. It's deliberately outrageous, more interested in absurdity and shock than subtlety, with the comedy riding on the pair's dim-witted chemistry. Best for viewers who enjoy raunchy, provocative buddy comedy and don't mind humor that goes for the biggest, most tasteless swing available.
