Our take on The Jungle Book
Jon Favreau's 2016 take on the classic tells the story of Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves who is forced to leave the jungle after the tiger Shere Khan threatens him. Guided by the wise panther Bagheera and the easygoing bear Baloo, he sets out on a journey of self-discovery through a world of talking animals. Blending live action with photoreal digital creatures, this adventure-fantasy leans into spectacle while keeping the coming-of-age heart of the tale intact. It works well for families and for viewers who enjoy immersive world-building and a familiar story told with real visual craft. Younger children may find Shere Khan genuinely menacing, so it rewards a bit of company.
