Our take on The Lone Ranger
Gore Verbinski gives the classic radio hero a large-scale, tongue-in-cheek western in this 2013 adventure. When the Texas Rangers pursue Butch Cavendish's gang of outlaws, an ambush leaves the lawmen apparently slaughtered, save for a single survivor nursed back to health by a Native American named Tonto. Donning a mask and riding a white stallion called Silver, the reborn Ranger teams with Tonto to bring Cavendish and men of his kind to justice. Big, playful and unabashedly spectacular, the film mixes broad comedy with sweeping action and frames the tale largely through Tonto's eyes. Best for viewers wanting a sprawling, lighthearted spin on frontier legend.
