Our take on The Mist

Frank Darabont's 2007 chiller traps a small Maine town under a dense mist that rolls in after a violent storm, sealing David Drayton and his young son inside a grocery store with panicked neighbors. The dread works on two fronts: the deadly, unseen horrors lurking in the fog, and the faster unraveling of people cornered together, where fear curdles into hysteria and cruelty. Darabont keeps the frame claustrophobic and the tension mounting, more interested in how a community fractures than in easy shocks. It suits viewers who want horror with a bleak, human edge and don't need reassurance, building toward an ending that tends to stay with people.
