Our take on The Ring
Gore Verbinski's chilly American remake turns an urban legend into slow-creeping dread: journalist Rachel Keller investigates a cursed videotape said to kill its viewers seven days after they watch it, then watches it herself and starts a countdown to save her own life and her son's. This is horror built on atmosphere, muted color and mounting unease rather than gore, patiently unspooling its mystery as the deadline nears. Fans of eerie, investigative scares and creeping supernatural mood will feel right at home; those who prefer fast, bloody thrills may find it too deliberate. A good fit for viewers who like their fear cold, quiet and lingering.
