Stanley Kubrick's 1980 horror strands the Torrance family inside the vast, empty Overlook Hotel, where Jack has taken a winter caretaking job and his wife Wendy and young son Danny must wait out months of isolation. What they aren't ready for is the madness that slowly seeps into the corridors. Kubrick trades jump scares for dread built from symmetry, endless hallways and a mounting sense that something is very wrong.
