The second chapter in the Twilight saga finds Bella Swan devastated when her vampire love, Edward Cullen, leaves Forks, Washington. She gradually finds solace in her deepening friendship with Jacob Black, who harbors a secret of his own, even as an ancient supernatural conflict pulls her toward ever more reckless choices. Director Chris Weitz leans into brooding romance and longing, trading some of the first film's chill for adventure and a widening fantasy world.
