Robert Luketic's 2009 romantic comedy sets up a war of the sexes on a morning-show set. A romantically frustrated producer finds herself dragged into a series of outrageous tests by a chauvinistic correspondent, who claims his cynical theories on love and attraction are the only ones that work. His schemes are meant to help her land a man, but they lead to an unexpected result. The premise is pure genre: opposites who spar, banter that turns barbed, and the suspicion that all the cynicism is a cover. It's aimed at viewers happy with a raunchy, formulaic rom-com built on odd-couple friction rather than subtlety, and it wears its cheeky tone openly.
