About Wanted

Doormat Wesley Gibson is an office worker whose life is going nowhere. He meets an attractive woman named Fox and discovers that his recently murdered father - whom Wesley never knew - belonged to the Fraternity, a secret society of assassins which takes its orders from Fate itself. Fox and Sloan, the Fraternity's leader, teach Wesley, through intense training, to tap into dormant powers and hone his innate killing skills. Though he enjoys his newfound abilities, he begins to suspect that there is more to the Fraternity than meets the eye.

Timur Bekmambetov's 2008 action-thriller follows Wesley Gibson, a downtrodden office drone whose numb existence explodes after he meets a woman named Fox and learns his murdered father belonged to the Fraternity, a secret society of assassins guided by Fate itself. Trained to weaponize dormant abilities, Wesley grows intoxicated by his new power, then begins to suspect the order hides darker motives. Expect hyper-stylized violence, gravity-defying stunts and a comic-book sense of physics rather than realism. It suits viewers who enjoy kinetic, over-the-top thrillers with a nasty streak and a wish-fulfillment revenge fantasy underneath. Those wanting grounded drama should look elsewhere; this one commits fully to spectacle and momentum.
