Taylor Sheridan's 2017 thriller pairs an FBI agent with a veteran game tracker to investigate a murder on a Native American reservation. Rooted in a harsh, snowbound landscape, the film uses its crime-mystery framework to explore grief, isolation and communities easily overlooked. Sheridan, better known for his writing, directs with a spare, deliberate hand, letting silence and cold do much of the work. It suits viewers who want a procedural with weight and moral seriousness rather than fast twists, and who appreciate a strong sense of place. If you like slow-burning crime dramas where the setting is almost a character, this one lingers.
